Louis Bryant Training Systems

Today I wanted to cover serious issues on the American Fat problem! thats right not weight. The big excuse most people have is that, You got it ! I DON'T HAVE THE TIME, well! I think in my mind as most trainers will think but not say and speaking for trainers that are truely walking there talk is (You found the time to get that size). It seems like no one wants to take responsibility for there own gluttony. I was at the taste of Tacoma yesterday and was amazed but not really to see the over weight and obese adults and young people there standing on line to get food while they where eating  sometimes it shames me to be part of the human race to see that we eat ourselves into diebetes, high blood pressure, cancer etc.. Get a clue people wake up please. No one said be a Jack LaLanne but we can do better.

Egg Proteins & Weight Management

One egg provides 6 grams of protein, or 12% of the
Recommended Daily Value. Eggs provide the highest quality protein found in any
food because they provide all of the essential amino acids our bodies need in a
near-perfect pattern. While many people think the egg white has all the protein,
the yolk actually provides nearly half of it.

The high-quality protein in eggs helps you to feel full longer and stay
energized, which contributes to maintaining a healthy weight. In fact, research*
shows that eggs eaten at the start of the day can reduce daily calorie intake,
prevent snacking between meals and keep you satisfied on those busy days when
mealtime is delayed.

 Muscle Strength, Repair & Preservation
Research indicates that high-quality protein may help active adults build
muscle strength and middle-aged and aging adults prevent muscle loss. Consuming
eggs following exercise is a great way to get the most benefits from exercise by
encouraging muscle tissue repair and growth.

The biggest protein myth is that you can only digest 30 grams of protein at
one time. Find out what's wrong with this belief and just how much protein you
need. This is a common question. I also get variations such as, how much
protein  can you digest at one time?

There are two ways to answer this, because there really two questions being
  asked.

1) How much protein can the digestive system physically absorb into the
  bloodstream from a meal?

And the MORE IMPORTANT QUESTION...

2) How much protein can you body actually utilize?

The answers...

1) About 95% and higher, unless you have some type of digestive system
  malfunction.

So if you get convinced by supplement companies to drink a 42g protein shake
in 5 minutes, you'll still probably absorb at 38 or more grams of that
  protein.

Your muscle growth is not limited by the amount of protein you can DIGEST or
  ABSORB.

Your muscle growth IS LIMITED by the amount of protein that your body can
  utilize for protein synthesis.

So the answer to #2...

2) A lot less than you think.

You really don't need 40, or 30, or probably even 20g of protein per meal to
keep your protein synthesis humming along. See Nutrition Help Expert Brad
Pilon's post on "How Much Protein Do We Really Need"

Any protein that your body can't use for growth will be shuttled into a
process where it is broken down (de-aminated: meaning the nitrogen is removed
from the molecule and it becomes a carbon skeleton) to be used in energy
  pathways.

Now, there are benefits for eating extra protein (in my opinion) when
dieting, mainly that it helps to suppress appetite.

But the bottom line to the question I am asked almost everyday is...

a) Your body can digest and absorb almost all of the protein you eat without
  problem.

b) Your muscles can only do so much with protein...the muscle growth process
is RARELY, if ever limited by the amount of protein we consume. Almost all of
us  can easily get enough protein for maximum muscle growth without the need for
eating 50g of protein 6 times per day. Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler, and Gunter
  Schlerkcamp excluded, of course.

Overall, I'd think twice about the need to slam down a 40-50g protein
shake...just think of the children and puppies you'll save by not gassing them
  out with protein farts.
Real food should cover all your protein needs.

The Basics of Cholesterol
Cholesterol is a waxy substance
found in the body. Having high "bad" cholesterol means you have too much LDL cholesterol in your blood. LDL cholesterol
can build up in your arteries and
prevent the blood from getting to your heart. HDL cholesterol is the "good" cholesterol. It carries LDL
cholesterol away from your artery walls.

Here is some basic information you should know about cholesterol:

  • Too much cholesterol in the blood, or high cholesterol, can be
    serious.
People with high cholesterol are at risk of getting heart disease. This can lead to a heart attack or stroke. Did you know,  80% of people who have had a heart
    attack have high cholesterol

  • Only about 25% of cholesterol comes from the foods you
    eat.
The other 75% is made by the body. Factors such as age and family history affect how much
cholesterol your body makes. That’s why, for 2 out of 3 people with high
cholesterol, diet and exercise alone aren’t enough and a cholesterol-lowering
medicine, like LIPITOR, may be necessary

  • People with high cholesterol usually have no
    symptoms.
But it can be detected with a blood test. These tests can
also help your doctor predict what your risk for heart disease may
    be

What Should My Cholesterol Numbers Be?
Your doctor knows best when it comes to your cholesterol goals, and he or she
will be your partner in reaching them. National guidelines say a person’s total cholesterol number should be
under 200, while 220–239 is considered borderline high, and above 240 is
considered high.

National guidelines also provide direction on LDL cholesterol, part of total
cholesterol and the main focus of cholesterol-lowering therapy. Having high
levels of LDL cholesterol may put you at risk for heart disease. Generally, your
LDL cholesterol should be below 160, if you have no other risk factors for heart disease. Managing and lowering
your LDL cholesterol then helps to further reduce your risk.

8 Workout Tips for High
School Athletes

Today’s post is provided by Rob Graf, AdvoCare Director
of Endorsements.

I get many calls from parents who have younger
athletes (ages 14-17) who want to maximize their lean muscle gain. The following
program has been a proven winner and features many Performance Elite products
that are OK for anyone 12 and older to take
regularly:

  1. Eat a good     breakfast. Start the day with a strong foundation. Blend up a Meal
    Replacement Shake
with your favorite fruits, and don’t forget the CorePlex
    and OmegaPlex
    with your meal.

  2. Have a     snack before lunch. Around 10:30, squeeze in a Meal
    Replacement Bar
.     It’s packed with 17 grams of protein and it’s easy
to keep on hand at     school.

  3. Fuel up     before resistance training. Pop three Catalyst
right before     the workout. The amino acids will sustain your muscles and help
    rid fat.

  4. Exercise     the right way. When you’re working large muscle groups, I suggest     doing 3 to 5
sets of 8 to 10 reps for each exercise. Follow a balanced     approach to your
routine. In other words, if you do 30 reps of a “push”     exercise (like bench
press), follow it up with 30 reps of a “pull”     exercise (like low cable
    rows).

  5. Stay     hydrated. There’s nothing better to help you with this than Rehydrate
    Electrolyte     Replacement Drink
    .

  6. Enhance     the recovery. The window of opportunity to significantly enhance     your muscles’
recovery is about 60 minutes after you finish your last rep.     Be sure to
    drink a Post-Workout
    Recovery     Shake
within an hour of working out.

  7. Build up. Keep     feeding your muscles the protein they need with a Muscle
    Gain shake
         90 minutes after your workout.

  8. Don’t     forget to rest. Your sleep cycle is prime time for recovery, so be     sure you’re
getting plenty of sleep. Don’t cheat your body of the time it     needs to
repair and grow muscle. Shoot for at least 7 hours, and 8     hours is
    better.

"Many people have arthritis and rheumatism; they get bum knees,  a bum back. A
lot of guys get a little pain in the toe or knee and then they  won't exercise.
Well gee, you have 640 muscles in your body. There may be a few  exercises you
can't do, but there are hundreds you can do!" -

JACK LA LANNE:  AKA François Henri La Lanne Born: 26-Sep-1914
Birthplace: San Francisco, CA
Died: 23-Jan-2011
Location of death: Morro Bay, CA
Cause of death: Pneumonia
Remains: Buried, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, CA
Gender: Male
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Fitness Guru Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Fitness guru Jack La Lanne was a juvenile delinquent, once attacking his brother with an axe, and setting his family's house on fire. In adulthood, he blamed his youthful misbehavior on being fed too many high-sugar foods. At 15, his mother dragged him to hear a speech by nutritionist Paul Bragg (1895-1976), where La Lanne was inspired to reform his eating habits. He eliminated everything made with white flour or white sugar from his diet, and instead ate almost nothing but fruits, vegetables, and fish for the rest of his life. Healthy foods were hard to find, so La Lanne concocted his own recipes, and by the age of 18 he owned a health-food bakery. At 21, he opened his first gym in Oakland, California. It was 1936, and most doctors at the time warned against working out with weights, believing it could cause a heart attack or ruin a man's sex drive, but as his gym grew into a chain of fitness clubs there were no reports of members dying or losing interest in sex, and La Lanne, first seen as a crackpot, gradually came to be seen as America's foremost authority on fitness. To add variety to his customers' workouts, he devised such now-standard equipment as leg-extension machines and weights on pulleys for lifting. Over subsequent years, he was among the first to produce protein supplements and nutrition bars. Beginning in 1951, La Lanne hosted and produced The Jack La Lanne Show, TV's first workout program. On his show, he performed calisthenics, usually with only a chair or table ledge as 'equipment', while cheerfully pointing at the camera and urging his audience to "Get up, work out, and feel better". At first the show aired only in San Francisco, and La Lanne had to buy the air time, as TV executives were sure nobody would want to watch him do exercises. Within a few years, the program was nationally syndicated on ABC, where millions watched La Lanne do exercises until 1985. After his TV show ended, La Lanne remained in the public eye with a series of fitness stunts, usually performed on his birthday. In 1955, he swam from Alcatraz to San Francisco, while wearing handcuffs. In 1991, for his 70th birthday, he swam a mile while shackled to 70 boats carrying 70 people. Even in his 90s, La Lanne remained in good health, selling juicers in TV infomercials and working out two hours every day -- an hour in the gym, and an hour in the pool. He said he had not missed a day of workouts -- or had a sugary dessert -- since 1930. "I don't care how old I live", he once said, "I just want to be living while I am living!" He was 96 when he died of respiratory failure brought about by pneumonia, in 2011. According to media reports, he was clutching an exercise weight in his bed when he passed away.

Dangerous levels of metal.

Report: Protein Drinks Have Unhealthy Metals Consumer Reports Study Finds Worrisome Levels of Lead, Cadmium, and Other Metals.

June 3, 2010 -- Popular protein drinks with names like Muscle Milk and EAS Myoplex -- favorites of teens, gym rats, boomers, and pregnant women -- can contain potentially unsafe levels of heavy metals and other harmful substances, according to an investigation by Consumer Reports.

''Consuming these kinds of protein drinks on a regular basis can in some cases create the risk of chronic exposure, even at low levels, to heavy metals such as cadmium and lead that can pose health problems, particularly to vulnerable people," says Andrea Rock, the Consumer Reports editor for the investigation. Among vulnerable people are children under age 18, pregnant women, and people with diabetes or chronic kidney conditions, she says.

Makers of protein drinks disagreed and said there were flaws in the investigation.

While the protein drinks are marketed as convenient, Rock says, "Most people can meet their protein needs through diet. And that can be better for both your health and your wallet.''

Testing for contaminants -- including arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury -- found most products to be in the low to moderate range. But three products cause concern, Rock says, because people who have three servings a day could be exposed to higher levels of three substances -- arsenic, cadmium and lead. Some products surpass the maximum limit  proposed by the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP). The USP sets voluntary standards for health products.

Excess cadmium can accumulate and gather in the kidneys, and excess protein can also damage the kidneys.

Protein drinks are considered dietary supplements, so the makers are not required to test the products before sale to ensure they are safe and effective, according to the report.

  • EAS Myoplex Original Rich Dark Chocolate Shake has an average of 16.9 micrograms of arsenic in three servings -- more than the 15 micrograms a day that is the proposed USP limit. It has an average of 5.1 micrograms of cadmium for three servings -- above the USP limit of 5 micrograms a day.
  • Muscle Milk chocolate powder, at three servings, contained all four of the metals, and three metals were found at a level that was among the highest of all 15 products tested. Cadmium levels were 5.6 micrograms -- above the 5-microgram limit. Lead was 13.5 micrograms -- above the USP limit of 10 micrograms. The arsenic averaged 12.2 micrograms -- near the 15-microgram daily USP limit.
  • Muscle Milk vanilla crème had 12.2 micrograms of lead per three servings -- above the 10-microgram daily limit. It has 11.2 micrograms of arsenic -- close to the 15-microgram daily limit.
Just one of the products, Six Star Muscle Professional Strength Whey Protein, specifies a maximum daily intake, Rock found. Other makers use vague language, the researchers say, which could promote high consumption levels.

THE ISSUE:
Toxins are everywhere – in the foods we eat, the air we breathe and the ground we walk on. These toxins build up in our body and may contribute to weight gain, loss of overall energy and poor skin tone, among other detrimental effects. In recent years, more attention has been given to detoxification or cleansing, and for good reason. Contaminants such as air pollution, cigarette smoke, radiation and carbon monoxide found in our everyday environment greatly influence our health and well-being. Furthermore, since the typical American diet is filled with processed foods, which are more often bought at the nearest fast food restaurant rather than made at home, what we eat also adds to our concerns.

Over time, these toxins may affect our health and digestion. In the long term, the ability to absorb the foods and nutrients we consume daily can become diminished. When this happens, individuals no longer receive the full benefit of their daily diet. Every day, a person's diet should provide essential nutrients to keep that individual performing at peak effectiveness. Proper absorption of nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals is essential to maintaining a healthy body. However, periodic lifestyle changes may generate the need for a “fresh start” to regain a healthy balanced nutrition routine with a solution that will also help other AdvoCare products you take once again reach their full potential.
